Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 51-year-old male who is 5 feet 10 inches tall and weigh around 210 lbs. I have pain in my left lower back, mainly towards the left side, but I also experience pain in the mid-abdominal area. This started around four days ago. I first thought it was kidney stones, as I had them twenty years back, but I do not remember the abdominal pain being as severe as it is now. The pain decreases at times, but this morning it is persistent. However, I took the tablet Tramadol yesterday. What to do?

Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

The most likely cause of your back pain is due to muscle spasms. The other possibility is disc prolapse. However, I have a few questions,

1. Is there any leg weakness or pain?

2. Is the pain associated with movements?

The pain in the abdomen is most likely due to gastritis as a result of taking too many painkillers. So, I suggest you to follow the instructions mentioned below,

1. Apply topical Voltaren gel (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory gel) thrice a day for one week.

2. Apply Deep heat cream (Menthol 5.91 %, eucalyptus oil 1.97 %, Methyl Salicylate 12.80 %, and turpentine oil 1.47 %) three times a day for two weeks.

3. Take the tablet Pantoprazole (antacid) 20 mg once daily for two weeks (for gastritis).

Kindly consult a specialist, talk with them and take the medications with their consent.

I hope this helps.

Kindly follow up if you have more doubts.

Take care.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
