Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have had a gastric problem for two years. When I observed my stool today, it is mild black, some days, it is black, and on some days, it is brown. I have pain sometimes in the stomach. Is it a danger? Please help?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Black stools can be due to blood in stools, eating jamun, and taking iron tablets. If you consume jamun or iron tablets, then nothing to worry you are safe. If this is not a scenario, I suggest you will need two tests- complete blood count to see for hemoglobin levels and stool for occult blood to detect if black color stools are due to blood in stools. If blood in stools is there, you will need an endoscopy, and you will be fine. Gastritis is a very common cause of blood in stools. Meanwhile, I suggest you start the following medications:

1. Tablet Cyra (Rabeprazole 20 mg) one tablet twice daily.

2. Syrup Mucaine gel (Oxetacaine 10 mg/5 ml, Aluminium Hydroxide 0.291 gm/5 ml, and Milk Of Magnesia 98 mg/5 ml) two teaspoon thrice daily.

3. Tablet Normaxin (Clidinium 2.5 mg, Chlordiazepoxide 5 mg, and Dicyclomine 10 mg) one tablet twice daily.

I suggest you take this treatment and you will feel much better. Meanwhile, you can get the tests done and share the reports with your local physician or with me.

I hope this helps.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
