Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am embarrassed to state my problem, but I am a man and I have been having irritation underneath my testicles. I used my cell camera and I saw a wide patch of spotty redness and many blisters a couple of them showed mucus inside. I combined all that horrible that I applied petroleum jelly and Calamine white, and I felt something crawling over various areas of the infection. Now if it is an STD, why is it only underneath my testicles? And I have had this irritation for 3 to 4 weeks now. Why hasn't it cleared up? It is totally gross, and I must rid myself of this. Again, if it is an std outbreak, why do feel something crawling and seems like bitting me there? That part is not constant but usually happens if I have not applied any antiseptics to the irritated area.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I would like to tell you that there is nothing to be embarrassed about. These things keep happening with almost all of us. You should not be embarrassed about this sort of problem then you should consult a doctor sooner because sometimes these things might be serious and might need immediate medical attention. delaying it might further complicate it. Coming to your problem from what I can see in the picture (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity) that you have sent, it is a fungal infection. there is nothing to be worried about that is very common in that area and happens to most males. There are a few suggestions from my side.

  1. Always keep the area dry.
  2. Wipe the area clean after urinating.
  3. Do not scratch even if it itches.
  4. Do not apply random appointments to that area.
  5. Wear clean underwear now you ask me why it happened in that area itself.

Fungal infections are very common in the groin region if you leave it for a longer time it might spread to your groin area too that is your thigh area. For the treatment of this infection, we will have to give an ointment for local application and an antifungal that you have to take orally for at least two weeks. Do consult me further so that I can prescribe you the ointment and the antifungal medication. Hoping to hear from you soon. thank you
