Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My wife has got high BP. Her BP is 160/100 mm/Hg. What we have to do to decrease it?

Please suggest.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

She has stage 1 hypertension. For that lifestyle modification is needed. Take low salt diet. Use potassium salt for cooking. Fruits and green leafy vegetables can be taken more. Avoid a sedentary lifestyle and do active exercise daily for half an hour to one hour. If the blood pressure is not controlled by lifestyle modification, then medication like Telmisartan or Amlodipine can be started with a low dose. The secondary cause of hypertension can be ruled out by renal doppler arteriogram, urine VMA (vanillylmandelic acid) estimation, serum sodium, potassium, and aldosterone estimation.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
