Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am 35 years old male having weight around 180 lbs. Last year I was diagnosed with hypertension as my reading in the clinic was 170/120 and when the doctor asked me to monitor my BP and wrote some blood test. I monitored at home for 15 days then it was around 145/100 and report for all the blood test was normal but the doctor prescribed me Met XL 25 so I am taking it at night. I have started the exercise in the morning like jumping rope, spiking and yoga as well. I play TT for one hour in the noon around 4 PM to 5 PM. Now in the morning after exercise, my BP is around 130/85 but in the evening when I measure while sitting, it is around 150/110 and when lying it is around 138/93. Is this a cause of concern having high BP in the evening or it is normal?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

The medication you are taking is right, but I would like to know that whether you are skipping your medicine in between? And along with medication, stop over the counter salt.

For more information consult a family physician online.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for the reply,

I do not skip the medicine. I take in the night every day before going to bed.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

If you are not missing your medicine, then do not tense yourself. BP (blood pressure) while sitting is always higher than BP while lying down, as while sitting your heart has to work much more to pump blood to the brain. So BP is on the higher side. While resting or lying down, your brain and heart are at the same level so BP will be less.

I would advice not to be tensed as anxiety will also increase BP. Visit your doctor every two to three months to know about any change in medication. Stay healthy, eat healthily, and stop over the counter salts like on salads.

For more information consult a family physician online.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for the reply,

I do not take counter salt. But still, BP is high in the evening. Can I start green tea?
