Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I had LASIK surgery done three months ago by a reputable doctor. I am young, healthy, and had high myopia (-6.00 D and -7.00 D). My near vision is always perfect. However, would this not be too blurry if I were experiencing dry eye blurriness? Wetting drops make me feel better and relieve some strain and pain, but they do not clear up my vision. Would not I expect to have good vision for at least a minute after putting the eye drops? My left eye (initially worse) is much better. However, my right is now worse (originally the better eye). If I was having a dry eye only, would I not expect to have equally poor vision in both? My vision has stayed this way for two or three days with no real improvement. I am apprehensive that I am just stuck with sub-par vision, despite the optimism given to me before surgery. I am beginning to despair pretty intensely and spending much of the day regretting this surgery. Trying to stay optimistic. But is there any chance for significant changes this far into the process? I hope to hear from folks who had similar experiences or noticed significant changes three months after LASIK.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

Generally, after LASIK, the vision is crystal clear, but in some cases, when the number is relatively high and corneal thickness is thin. In such a scenario, one has to be greedy not to correct fully. Secondly, sometimes presurgery vision is less. Therefore, even after correction, the acceptance will be low. Your right eye, which was better earlier, is worse. So I would like to see your prescription. Yes, you need to put drops for dry eyes, but if not severe, one eye drop is sufficient. I hope this helps. Thank you and take care.
