Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 18 years old, and my weight is 105 pounds. I have a boil on my bottom, and pus is coming out of it. I am getting concerned as the boil is bleeding. Is there any way I can treat this myself at home, or should I get it examined?

Hello,

Welcome to iclinq.com.

I have gone through your query, and I understand it. A boil or a furuncle is a bacterial infection of the hair follicles often associated with surrounding cellulitis. I suggest you take the tablet Amoxycillin 500 mg in combination with Clavulanic acid 125 mg thrice daily for a week or the tablet Cephalexin 500 mg thrice daily. An over-the-counter antibacterial like Mupirocin 2 % can be applied twice daily over the boil. Consult a specific doctor, discuss with them, and take medications with their consent. If the boil continues to enlarge and becomes fluctuant or soft, it may need to be incised to drain away the pus.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
