Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Can polyps cyst in the right ovary, if not removed, may convert into cancer? The size of the follicular cyst is 25 mm, and 24 mm when noted. What should I do?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Actually, polyps and cysts are both different things. The cyst will not convert into any concern or abnormal growth. But polyp is an abnormal growth of tissue that can be benign, which is not harmful. You have a polyp in the cervix, which is the opening of the uterus. And it is not confirmed whether it is poly. You can go for further testing, which includes biopsy. They will take a small part of it and send it for diagnosis. Then only will it be clear whether it is due to infection or any other reason? Can you please tell me what symptoms do you have? Do you get irregular periods? Do you get heavy bleeding during periods? How many kids do you have?

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I had light spotting for ten days then, went to the doctor. She examined and gave a tablet to stop spotting. Two days after I did not have spots, later I went for the pelvic scan they were not able to find the cysts. They did internal scanning and came to know follicular polyp cyst, and they told me it has to be removed by some process, and they said it would not be cured by tablets. So I am fearful of doing that. Is it necessary to do that? Or shall I leave like that itself. Now I have do not have any spotting or any other thing.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com

The doctor has suggested diagnostic D and C (dilation and curettage) of poly under IV ( intravenous) radiation. It is the same small producer where they will take the poly out and send it for testing. It is better to do it because later on, they might spread and cause further complications such as more bleeding or pain. It is a simple procedure, and easily you can do so it will be better if you go for it.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
