Can drowsiness and lightheadedness be related to discomfort on the left side of the chest, arm, and occasionally the shoulder?

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 25-year-old female who weighs 85 pounds and experiences discomfort in my left side of the chest, arm, and occasionally shoulder. The pain is intense and lasts between five to ten minutes, sometimes longer. I frequently feel drowsy and lightheaded. I have been experiencing discomfort for the past two years. Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern. Firstly, an organic cause should be ruled out, like joint inflammation or nerve compression. It needs a physical examination. I would suggest having a visit to a rheumatologist. If he suspects nerve compression then he may refer you to a neurologist. Take painkillers like Paracetamol or Ibuprofen (Brufen tablet). Dizziness can be due to low blood pressure, which is common in low weight females. Check blood pressure, have plenty of water, eat healthy food, and have a good breakfast early in the morning to kick start your day. Another type of severe sharp pain associated with breathing is called a precordial catch. This is a common issue and resolves by itself in a few months to years. I hope this helps. Thank you and take care.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
