Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have cold chills, body aches, fatigue, sweats, and fever at night. I am not sure what I have. What could be the reason?

Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

These symptoms are suggestive of an infectious disease condition. However, this diagnosis cannot be narrowed down unless we investigate further.

1. When are you getting these symptoms?

2. How did it start? All symptoms together, or one symptom earlier than the other? Please write the sequence of events.

3. What is the severity of your condition? Is it mild, moderate, or severe?

4. Do you have any history of asthma, urinary tract infection, COVID-19, typhoid, malaria, hypertension, or tuberculosis?

Please answer the questions mentioned above for a detailed diagnosis of your condition.

Thank you.

Investigations to be done

1. Swab test - Throat and nasopharyngeal for COVID-19 and swine flu 2. Blood tests - CBC (complete blood count), ESR (erythrocyte sedimentation rate), CRP (C- reactive protein), D-dimer, and LFT (liver function test). 3. Urine routine and urine culture. 4. X-ray of the chest.

Differential diagnosis

Upper respiratory tract infection.

Treatment plan

1. Caplets Tylenol cold and flu day and night (Acetaminophen 325 mg) 2 caplets every 6 hours for three days. 2. Tab N- Acetylcysteine 600 mg 1 tablet once daily for three days.

Preventive measures

1. Cold compresses on the head in case of high fever 2. Steam inhalation. 3. Warm water gargles.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
