Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My 9-month-old son is facing problems of the chest with a cough for the last four days. He coughs the whole day like he is going to vomit but nothing comes out. Please suggest the medicine to use so that his cough, sputum can come out.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your question in detail and I know that you are very concerned about your child. It seems that your child probably has got a lower respiratory tract infection. Since you are already taking antibiotic Ofloxacin prescribed yesterday according to prescription attached (attachment removed to protect patient identity), it seems that your child is not responding to it and we have to change the antibiotic.

According to the prescription attached, the weight of the child is 17.8 pounds. In my opinion, you should take syrup Cefpodoxime (one teaspoon equals 50 mg) half teaspoon three times a day for three days. Continue syrup Wikoryl 0.1 fluid ounce three times a day for three days. If wheezing episodes is present then give nebulization with Duolin on SOS basis. However, since this is a prescription medicine, I suggest you to meet the local doctor to confirm the diagnosis. Review back after two days. Take care.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
