What are the chances of pregnancy if my partner did not get her period despite having a regular menstrual cycle and protected intercourse?

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had protected intercourse with my partner using the pull-out method a month ago. She got her periods five days after the intercourse, and she took an I-pill a month before we had intercourse. She has a regular menstrual cycle, but she did not get her periods till now. Is there any chance of her pregnancy? When will she get her periods?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

If you used a condom during sex, you should not be worried about pregnancy. It can be due to an infection. If she observes a white discharge, I suggest her to take the tablet Doxy (Doxycycline) 100 mg twice daily for five days and the tablet Livogen (Ferrous fumarate and folic acid). She can undergo thyroid function tests if she has hormonal issues. She can undergo an abdominal ultrasound if she suffers from polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). I suggest she gets her vitamin and folic acid levels checked. She must stay hydrated.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
