Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am having frequent loose motions and vomiting. I have recently traveled in hot weather and felt feverish, so took Calpol. I have also taken Ciplox-TZ but no improvement in fever and loose motions. Kindly suggest.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your query and understand your concern. You are having heat-induced diarrhea and vomiting. Do not take antibiotics unnecessarily as antibiotic use can alter normal gut intestinal flora. Drink lots of water to maintain hydration. ORS (oral rehydration salts) can also be taken along with water to replenish lost electrolytes. Avoid excess spicy foods and fatty meals. Take small meals at frequent intervals. I suggest you take a Probiotic tablet. Vizylac (Lactic acid Bacillus, Vitamin B complex) for seven days or Racecadotril (Glycine, Benzyl ester), an antisecretory drug for diarrhea. Consume fresh fruit juice often and avoid outside food for seven days. If gastritis and acidity are present along with vomiting then take Rabeprazole (Proton Pump Inhibitor) and Domperidone (Dopamine antagonist) combination drug (domperidone will help in vomiting). If no improvement then a stool examination is done after which an antibiotic will be prescribed. You can consult a nearby physician for examination if needed. I hope this will help you.

Thank you.
