Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 21-year-old male, and I struggle to concentrate on anything. I am overwhelmed by the thoughts going through my head, and I cannot go to sleep. I get dreams that are very vivid, and this has been happening for the past three weeks. In addition, I cannot multi-task with simple things, and I always confuse myself with my left and right hand. Also, I make mistakes while writing with the letters d,b,q, and g. And I also become furious with this. Sometimes I feel like banging my head into a wall. I am different from what I was about a month ago. Please help me, and I do not want my family to know about this, as we are already struggling with my mother's PTSD. In addition, I have wheezing, dust allergies, and mild peanut allergies.

Kindly help me.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your query and understood your concern. You may have a major depressive disorder with Gerstmann's syndrome or underlying stress. There is non-pharmacological management for it, and I suggest you to follow few instructions mentioned. It will help you. Exercise for 30 to 45 minutes daily, like at least going for a walk. If possible, join a gym or go to swimming classes. It will boost your self-confidence. Meditate for 20 minutes daily. Sit in one place in a comfortable position and try to concentrate on your normal breathing. Do not stop or force yourself to stop your thoughts; just let them be. It will help you to relax. Eat healthy home-cooked foods, and avoid junk foods. Drink enough water. Spend quality time with friends and family daily or do video calls if you are living away from your family. Spend time on creative hobbies like reading books, writing journals, painting, drawing, and learning new skills, language, or musical instruments. Get enough sleep for about 7 to 8 hours daily. Avoid tobacco, alcohol, or any substance abuse. Live your life, do not just spend it. Be bold and confident. Do not be afraid of anyone, and stop overthinking. If your symptoms still persist after following the advice for 4 to 6 weeks, then you need to start medications for a short duration.

I hope that you got your answer. Kindly follow up if you want further help.

Thank you.
