Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I tested positive for COVID-19. For the past few months, I have been taking Magnesium to aid with heart palpitations. Now I am also taking Tylenol and Mucinex (Guaifenesin). I have not taken any Magnesium tablets in two days, and my palpitations have reappeared. I would like to know if it is safe to continue taking Magnesium Glycinate?

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor for the reply,

I have had a fever for the past two days. The temperature is around 100 degrees Fahrenheit to 102 degrees Fahrenheit. Now I have a persistent cough with a lot of mucous and a sore throat. I have been taking Tylenol for the past two days. And Mucinex since this morning to assist with the cough and mucus. I was afraid the pills might interact with my Magnesium Glycinate, so I decided not to take them, and now I have slight heart palpitations.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

No, it does not interfere with these medications. Therefore, you can take them without any fear. And for your symptoms, I would suggest adding,

  1. Tablet Doxycycline 100 mg once after a meal (noon).
  2. Tablet Pantoprazole 40 mg once before breakfast.
  3. Tablet Multivitamin (one tablet before sleeping).

Take all these medicines for five days, then continue with Tylenol and Magnesium as needed. COVID-19 causes dehydration and palpitations, so eat well and drink enough fluids.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
