Hello doctor,
I am 40 years old. My periods have been very much regular throughout my life, and my cycle is about 26 days with three days of periods. But this time, I got my period ten days before the date and stayed for three days as usual. But, this time, it started again after five days of completion, and now I am on my second day. I am a very active lady in fitness and weight training. I cannot figure out why the early cycle and getting periods for the second time in a month. Please help.

This could be a temporary disturbance for the first time you have this. But keep in mind that according to your age, you are approaching the perimenopausal stage. At this age, it is very common to have an irregular, prolonged or absent cycle for longer. However, I suggest Pause 500 mg tablet (Tranexamic acid) thrice a day for five days to stop the bleeding. But, if it recurs again in a very irregular fashion, then you need some medication. Though, as I have told you, this is entirely physiological, you can have fewer cycles of combined pills to regularize your cycle.
