Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I was attacked by mumps around three years back and now my testicle sizes are different. So, I wanted to know about the treatment. Will I get rejected in visa medical test? I am a petroleum engineer. Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com. I have reviewed all the details you provided regarding the difference in size of the testicles. This discrepancy can be attributed to two main reasons: orchitis and hydrocele. Orchitis refers to the inflammation of the testicles, which occurred three years ago as a result of mumps. This condition typically presents with redness, pain, and the absence of fluid around the testis. To alleviate swelling and pain, anti-inflammatory agents are typically recommended. If a bacterial infection is present, antibiotics may also be prescribed. On the other hand, hydrocele involves the formation of fluid around the testis, which requires diagnosis through ultrasound and clinical examination. If fluid accumulation is detected, surgical intervention may be necessary to remove it. In case of hydrocele, if the inflammation is more, then the fluid will be formed around the testis, which needs ultrasound and clinical examination for diagnosis. However, if the size difference is solely due to testicular asymmetry without fluid accumulation, the chances of rejection may be reduced. I recommend consulting a general surgeon and undergoing a scrotum ultrasound for further evaluation and management of your condition.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I do not have any pain. Is there any treatment to resize? Also, is there any precaution to prevent the recurrence?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Normally, the size of the testes will not be equal. As there will not be any problem with the function of testis, you need not worry much regarding the size. Get an ultrasound scrotum to rule out hydrocele or varicocele. If present, then you need to take treatment for that. If only different sized testis is present without any liquid collection, then nothing needs to be done. There is no treatment for resizing. General precautions to be followed to prevent infections in the groin area. No specific precautions exist.
