Will I have any problem if I have sex with a tight foreskin?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am having a tight foreskin, but I am able to masturbate without pain. I would like to know whether it will cause any problem while having sex. Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read and understood your problem. As you can masturbate without pain, it will not cause any problem in sex.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thanks for the quick reply. Here I have a few more questions. Is it really necessary to have the foreskin retract over the glans? My foreskin actually covers the glans completely. There is an opening while erect which is approximately the diameter of a finger. Is it fine to have it? While flaccid, I am not able to retract completely. If I try bit hard it pains. Is it phimosis? Do I need to worry about it? Will it have any effect on my marriage life? While having intercourse does it going to hurt? Please give any advice on that. Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I have gone through your problems and will clarify the same. If the foreskin cannot be retracted at all, then there is a chance of infection. If the opening is of one finger diameter, then you can use some lubricant or soap and try to pull foreskin back by holding the penis in one hand and pulling back with another. Do not apply force, over few days it will be pulled back gradually. You had mentioned there is no pain. If there is pain, then do the above procedure to retract it slowly. It is partial phimosis if you cannot retract in one month. Do not apply force then you will need operation. You can masturbate without pain. If there is pain on retraction, then it may cause pain on intercourse too. But, many men can do intercourse without pain with tight skin.
