Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have heaviness in my head for the past few days. When I go into shops, I feel very uneasy, like I shall fall down. I also feel dizziness, feeling not well overall. Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Sudden onset of dizziness associated with vertigo can be due to stroke. However, it can simply be due to peripheral causes like vestibulitis and ENT infection.

I need to know if you have any history of diabetes, hypertension. Tell me if you have diplopia, vertigo, vomitings? Severity? Vertigo due to a peripheral cause is very severe and due to central cause is not so severe.

Do not ignore these symptoms.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I do not have any other problem, but just a days before, I felt problem in my stomach and went to a gastroentrologist. Doctor made endoscopy and it is seen that I have multiple duodenal erosions, and he prescribed me medicine too for this. However, this uneasy feeling has been happening with me for two or three months. I am 21 years old, and I do not have any health problem like hypertension, sugar, etc. Is it stomach ulcer related? I am too much worried, even cannot procuring courage for going outside from home. I am just facing heavy headedness and problem in standing, feeling like I shall lose balance and fall down. Is it a serious matter? I do not have diplopia, vomiting, vestibulitis and ENT problems that you have mentioned. Please help me to find out a solution.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

From your reply, it does not seem that you have stroke. But you told me an important thing that you are taking medicines for duodenal ulcer. I need to know what medicines you are taking. Some medicines causes this type of problem. Get your blood pressure checked, if you have not done in the recent past.

Now other important concern is that why you developed duodenal ulcers, if you smoke and consume alcohol stop immediately. If you are heavy smoker and heavy alcohol user, you are always at risk of stroke.

I advise you to take blood sugar, lipid profile, LFT (liver function test), KFT (idney function test), ECG (electrocardiography) on routine basis. Another thing is just check your pulse rate, count it for one minute, and tell its rate and also is it regular or not. At any point of time, you feel extreme dizziness, you should go to a hospital.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

He prescribed me HP kit, Velgut, B-active tablet, Nexpan DSR, Nexpan 20 mg. I have checked blood pressure yesterday, and it is 117/78. My father is a teacher, he never smoked cigarettes and never have alcohol too. I follow my dad and I never had alcohol or smoked cigarette. My friends forced me few times, but I always ignored them, even I think 10 times before taking tea. Actually, I am outside my home for five years for higher studies, and there the foods are too much spicy and with this I did not take food at regular basis. For example after getting up in the morning I often did not take food, just have five or six biscuits, and after completing classes in the college I used to have lunch at nearly 1 or 2 PM, it happens continuously, perhaps this is the major reason. I did not even tasted alcohol or cigarettes, when I am sitting it is allright, the problem arises when I am standing. One more information I have visited a local doctor, he prescribed me to take tablet Vertin 8 and according to his advice I am taking this medicine too along with those.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I appreciate that your idol is your father and you are miles away from these bad habits. I was expecting this kit and these medicines. Many people have such problems while taking HP kit, as it has strong antibiotics. It makes you feel nauseous.

Usually it is prescribed for 14 days, in case you have completed the course of 7 - 10 days you may stop the kit. I must tell you that the H.pylori infection for which this kit is given comes back very soon. HP Kit will not give you life long prevention. You can only take Nexpan 20 mg twice daily. Also take tablet Stugeron 25 mg thrice a day for five days. Stop B Active and Velgut, they are just multivitamin supplements. If you eat proper diet, you do not require these costly medicines. This is my opinion in personal, you may discuss with your gastroenterologist regarding this.

However, as a rule he will not agree, and will ask you to take medicines further. Read about H.pylori infection and its recurrences from internet. When you get up from the bed, do not straight away get up, make you legs lie down off bed for 5-10 seconds and gradually get up. Do cervical exercises.

Your vertigo seems to be peripheral, so it will subside soon. And if it does not then you have to meet an ENT doctor. Do tell me after five days how are you feeling, accordingly we will decide the further treatment.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
