Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have had pain in my left hip for the past two days. Also, it causes discomfort while I walk, and the pain increases when I sit and try to bend down. Also, recently I lifted some weight, and lower back pain started along with pain in my leg muscles. Can this be due to some disc problem? Can you suggest some medicines for the same? Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern. This pain might be from the back of the hip, I would suggest to get X-rays done of the lower back and hip, if pain does not settle down in two to three weeks time. Also, I would suggest the following-

  1. Avoid lifting heavy weights.
  2. Avoid arching your back. Instead, bend your knees to pick up something from the floor. Avoid sitting for long hours.
  3. Avoid using two-wheelers.
  4. Improve your posture while sitting.
  5. Try to get up from the chair every 20 minutes, take a quick walk around, and then continue working. Always sit on a chair with back support.
  6. Do not get up suddenly from a lying-down position. Instead, turn to the side and then get up.
  7. Take bed rest in case of severe pain.
  8. Do hot fomentation over the affected area at least twice daily.
  9. Apply Oxalgin gel twice daily over the affected area.
  10. Start physiotherapy once the pain reduces.
  11. Once the pain reduces, swimming, yoga, and walking are good for you, and activities like jogging, running, and weight lifting will aggravate the pain.
  12. I would suggest to use the following medicines:
  • Tablet Pregabalin 75 mg at night for 15 days before the food.
  • Tablet Etoricoxib 60 mg twice daily for ten days.
  • Tablet Rabeprazole 20 mg twice daily for ten days before the food.
  • Tablet Shelcal (calcium and vitamin D3) 500 mg twice daily for 30 days before the food.

Do not take these tablets if you have bronchial asthma.

Thank you.
