Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have used the toilet in a public area and there were some feces in the commode. I urinated as it was urgent. I fear that there might have been some backsplash to my penis. I am extremely flustered and paranoid with the thought of HIV. Is there any risk from the situation for HIV?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com. To address your concerns directly, based on the situation you described, there is no need to worry at all. I understand that you may be feeling anxious about this, but it is important to note that you cannot be certain that the feces that came into contact with your penis belongs to an HIV-infected person. Furthermore, even in the worst-case scenario, it is crucial to understand that HIV does not spread through contact with body fluids such as sweat, tears, saliva, feces, or urine.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor.

Are you you sure that there is nothing to worry? Even, if the person did have HIV, will there be any chance of me catching the disease? I feel uncomfortable using public toilets nowadays.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com. There is no need to worry at all, as HIV does not spread through sharing toilets. If you happen to find yourself in a similar situation, all you need to do is promptly clean and remove any surface contamination to ensure proper hygiene.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
