Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am 60 years old and I suffer from anxiety due to my health. I do not have any other disease. I am unable to sleep due to fearful thoughts about my health. I have this issue for a week. I become panic and overwhelmed. I have never consulted a psychiatrist before and so I am using this platform. I have Solotik 50 mg and it was prescribed for my son who got better without using it. Will this tablet help me to overcome anxiety?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Kindly elaborate on your symptoms in a better way. Please mention whether you have this problem for the first time. Please mention the fearful thoughts you have now. Please mention whether you live lonely for the past few months or weeks. Please mention whether you had any precipitating factors for having these symptoms.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I am experiencing this problem for the past four days. But whenever I have a fever or cold, I will get up from sleep due to fear of it. I would get suffocated due to the phlegm in the throat. This has happened five to six times in the past three to four years. I am unable to get medication here. Can I take Solotik and Venlafaxine medication for my problem? I am not living lonely and I am happy regarding my family life. I have fear if I could catch a disease and how to handle it. I have taken COVID-19 vaccine and so I am not afraid of it. I have it as a general fear of losing my health. I am concerned about catching a cold. I fear even for losing my sleep. Currently, I am taking Duodart and it is a prostate medication.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

According to the symptoms, you suffer from illness anxiety disorder and it is associated with severe anxiety symptoms. I recommend you consult a psychiatrist at the earliest without taking medications. It would be ideal if the psychiatrist examines you directly and prescribes medication for you after doing a detailed physical examination along with the mental status examination and cognitive assessment. I can give you some tips to control your anxiety. Do some stress relaxation exercises like simple breathing exercises and concentrate only on your breathing. Do not think about the past or future. It is very important to live in the present. Avoid having negative thoughts about your health.

Treatment plan

Consult a psychiatrist for detailed examination and take medications under the guidance of the doctor. You can do stress relaxation techniques and mindfulness exercises.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
