Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I keep having bloody discharge since last year. I think it has been for about six months now. It is on and off at times, just about a week every month. The antibiotics were prescribed for me would only stop for a month. I also had two pelvic ultrasound scans, and everything was normal. Before the problem with bloody discharge, I had irregular periods, and my doctor prescribed combined oral contraceptives for me. About a month or two, it stopped. That is when the bloody discharge started. Sometimes it comes out brown too.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern. Bloody discharge is associated with the hormonal or structural abnormality. As your ultrasound results came back normal, it is likely a hormonal problem. You have been on oral contraceptives for the same. Have you been taking the medications as per your doctor's advice? I mean, regarding the duration and did you stop it on your own? These medications should not be stopped suddenly without consulting the doctor as this can lead to adverse effects. I suggest consulting your gynecologist as the problem has not been resolved. You might need another few diagnostic tests, and depending on that, your doctor might change the medications or their dosage. Another thing you can do is regular exercise, and it has helped many people when there are issues related to vaginal bleeding problems.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
