Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have frequent itching sensation in my eye. Immediately I rubbed my eyes, and I could not control the rubbing. After this, my eyes became reddish and please instruct me to eliminate this. I had short-sight power, and I did Lasik one year before. This itching problem happened before Lasik also. Please help. Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

I think you have allergic conjunctivitis. Eye allergies, called allergic conjunctivitis, are common when the eyes react to something that irritates them (called an allergen). The eyes produce histamine to fight off the allergen. As a result, the eyelids and conjunctiva (the thin, filmy membrane that covers the inside of your eyelids) become red, swollen, and itchy, with tearing and burning. The key to treating eye allergies is to avoid or limit contact with the substance causing the problem. Avoid rubbing your eyes; instead, do cold compresses. Use antiallergic eyedrops like Olopat (Olopatadine) eyedrops twice daily. Lubricating eyedrops like Flogel (propylene glycol) thrice daily. Use mild steroids like Flurisone (Tobramycin) in pulse dose in severe allergies. Consult your specialist doctor, talk with them, and take medications with their consent. I hope this information will help you. Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
