Is it possible to undergo IVF in case of endometriosis and ovarian chocolate cysts?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor

I was diagnosed with endometriosis, distorted bilateral tubes, and two right ovarian chocolate cysts. My histopathology report shows endometriosis.

Is there any possibility of having genital tuberculosis, which is not diagnosed in hysterolaparoscopy and pathology results?

I underwent a laparoscopy last year. Again, a chocolate cyst is formed in my right ovary.

Is it ok for me to undergo IVF (In vitro fertilization)?

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

Patients already having tuberculosis has more risk of developing endometriosis. So here you have endometriosis and autoimmune thyroiditis.

Both thyroid abnormalities and endometriosis can reduce fertility and have bad chances of natural conception.

  1. I advise you to have strict checks and control over your thyroid levels and have proper regular treatment to have normal levels. Then, immediately try IVF (in vitro fertilization) for conception and have full hormonal, physical, and emotional support.
  2. Take folic acids five milligrams daily. Also, take a healthy, nutritious diet with less salt, sugar, spice, and oil.
  3. Daily walk and exercise to have a normal BMI (basal metabolic index) and weight.
  4. I am not saying that you cannot have tuberculosis. You can have, but at present, you need to try for conception as soon as possible.

Thank you.
