Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I'm 32 years old, weigh 239 pounds, and I'm 5 feet tall. My BMI is 33, which puts me in the category of obesity grade 1. I've been experiencing snoring, intermittent sleep apnea, waking up feeling weak, along with joint pain and back discomfort. My vital signs are normal, and no serious medical conditions have been identified so far.
What's the best treatment option for obesity, and how can I manage these symptoms through weight management or other lifestyle changes? Please suggest.
Thank you.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
The best treatment for you is weight loss. Losing even 10 % of your body weight over the next six months can make a big difference in improving or even reversing obesity-related issues like diabetes, high cholesterol, fatty liver disease, and osteoporosis.
There are some FDA-approved medications for weight loss, but they can have side effects. These should only be considered after a full evaluation and if you’re truly motivated to lose weight. Start by making changes to your diet; this is key to managing your health. Before starting any medication, intentional weight loss through diet and exercise is essential. Aim to reduce your daily calorie intake to around 2,000 calories, and try to include regular, strenuous exercise in your routine. Keep in mind that real, healthy results may take a few months to show. Stay consistent, it’s worth it.
Please attach any relevant reports you have and mention whether you smoke or consume alcohol.
I hope this helps you.
Thank you.
