Hi doctor,

One of my family members have recently been diagnosed with oral cancer. I would like to know how much dangerous it is. The final report of lower lip biopsy showed well differentiated squamous cell carcinoma. The patient is having sugar and BP problem. And for that, he is on Glycomet GP-1 and Tazlac. Please advice.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

  • Squamous cell carcinomas of the lip are the most common malignant tumors of the oral cavity.
  • These kind of malignant tumors are treated primarily by surgical removal. The other ways of treatment are radiotherapy and topical cytostatic creams. A combination of them may be done. That will depend from the position, spread and oncologist choice.
  • The overall surveillance has been 75% for 5 years and 50% for 10 years. The well differentiated carcinomas have a better response from surgery.
