Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I kissed a girl and had potentially oral sex. A few days later, I developed a swollen tonsil with white spots, which I am scared could be HIV. Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. Would you mind sharing an image of your problem? Do you feel pain in your throat while swallowing? Are you feverish? Thank you.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

The picture would not show at all, but it looks like cheese on my tonsils stuck. It started with a sore throat, then now it is difficult to swallow from my left side, which is where the one tonsil has the white spots. It has been about a week. Please help.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

The cheesy material is unclear in the photos (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity). But according to your complaint, you suffer from acute inflammation in your throat and tonsils. I suggest an antibiotic as tablet Amoxicillin 1 g twice daily for a week, a local antifungal as Nystatin drops three times daily, plus an anti-inflammatory as tablet Brufen 400 mg (Ibuprofen) once daily. Oral hygiene is so important. You have to brush your teeth daily and use a mouth gargle. I do not think it is HIV. HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) needs a longer time to express itself by lowering the whole body's immunity. You can perform a simple blood test of HIV and check for confirmation. I hope this helps. Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
