Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
My girlfriend and I had unprotected sex, and I did not ejaculate (but I had my precum). We had sex five days after her periods ended. Can she get pregnant, and should I worry?
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
For getting pregnant, the sperms have to be ejaculated inside the vagina. These sperms then need to fertilize an egg (available if the female is ovulating). This fertilized egg is then required to be successfully implanted in the uterus of the female. When all this happens successfully, then a female is said to be pregnant. In your case, the probability of pregnancy is less but not zero. See precum also has a certain quantity of sperms which has led to pregnancy in certain cases. The intercourse was five days after periods, so eggs availability is slightly less but again not zero. If you guys had this intercourse, then you can do a urine pregnancy test at home if the female has missed her period. So I request you to share the details of her last menstrual period and if she has any history of irregular periods. Frankly speaking, based upon the information presented by you, the chances of pregnancy is really less.
Patient's Query
Thank you doctor,
Her periods started on the 2nd and ended on the 8th of this month. We had intercourse five days after her period ended. She also has a cyst in her ovaries.
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
According to her menstrual cycle and the information provided says she does not have chances of getting pregnant. You cannot do much about pregnancy even if the female partner conceives in the rarest possibility. As it has been only a week after the intercourse, you can wait for a week and then get a blood human chorionic gonadotropin test done. If there is difficulty in that, please do a urine pregnancy test at home.
Patient's Query
Thank you doctor,
When should I expect her periods?
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
As there is no use of any emergency contraceptive pills, she can expect her period as per her normal cycle pattern. Whatever she had five days before and after is fine, but as you have later said that she has cysts, there is no assurance for the normal menstrual pattern. If she has regular periods, then she can expect periods accordingly. Else she can do a urine pregnancy test after a week or so because generally, females with cysts have irregular periods or delayed periods. Please share if she has any history of irregular periods and her cycle length in the last three periods so that I can assess the likely date of her next period.
Patient's Query
Thank you doctor,
Her last three periods were 20th to 31st two months back, 20th to 25th of last month back, and 2nd to 8th of this month. And she was bleeding the next day of intercourse. What can be it?
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
The periods have been at varying time spans and of varying days, and the last two periods being very close. With her complaint of the cyst, nothing can be sure, but we can expect her next periods around the 10th to 14th of next month. To have regular periods, please start regular exercise, avoid fatty foods, avoid packaged drinks, and have an active lifestyle with adequate rest.
