Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am 23 years old. My height is 5 feet, and I weigh 99.208 pounds. My problem is that I feel my heartbeat when sitting still or lying down. I can feel my body vibrates in correspondence to my heartbeat. This is very annoying and scary. I feel so weak to do simple tasks like bathing. However, I got myself checked up, and my ECG, Echo, and ETT were all good. Cardiologist said it is anxiety and not a heart problem. I do not have any stress or anxiety. Then why is this happening? I got ill many times before but never lost my courage to recover, but this time I feel so weak physically and mentally. Please guide me on what I should do. Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Unusual awareness of own heartbeats is called Palpitations. Palpitations may occur due to various reasons. The reasons are fast heart rate, slower heart rate, irregular heart rate, being overcautious about heartbeats, thin, lean patients can feel the heartbeats, especially in the recumbent position (normal). My advice. Avoid being overcautious about it. Doing regular aerobic exercise will condition the heart, and Palpitations will go away over time. If anytime you feel palpitations, relax, count your pulse rate, and assess regularity. If the rate is more than 100 bpm at rest or irregular, undergo electrocardiography (ECG). Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
