Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 45-year-old female. I am suffering from a condition on my face in which my skin flares up, looks red and inflamed. It itches and then calms down after taking some measures, including applying Desonide cream. All through my teenage years, I faced a lot of acne issues. Even now I get hormonal acne sometimes. I am worried about the pigmentation or darkening on my face caused due to this condition. Will it help if I apply to Triluma cream? Can you please advise?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I saw the picture you have attached (the attachment was removed to protect's the patient identity). You have a few superficial acne scars and few bumps on your cheeks. You have captured it too close, and the color contrast is too much and so I am not able to appreciate the redness of your face in this picture.

If you are diagnosed with rosacea, you should not use Desonide cream. It is a steroid. Steroid aggravates acne as well as rosacea.

Triluma cream (Hydroquinone) has steroid too. For pigmentation, you can use Biluma (Propylene Glycol) cream, which is steroid free.

Please fill in this information so that I can precisely tell you if it is acne or rosacea.

1. For how long you have been using Desonide (Aluminium Acetate) cream?

2. Do you get flushing of the cheeks?

3. Do you feel an itching or burning sensation on exposure to sunlight? On consuming spicy food? Hot coffee or tea? Going near hot flame?

Any family history of rosacea?

If possible please attach pictures taken in good daylight.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
