Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My period is getting delayed for nine days. However, I have tested negative for pregnancy. But I am getting cramps. Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for your query.

I suggest you to take a blood pregnancy test to have a clear view of your situation. Many factors can delay periods, like strict diet, strenuous exercise, hormonal imbalance, thyroid abnormalities, illness, contraceptives, and medications. You can have hormonal menstrual induction if the pregnancy blood test comes negative. However, if the test comes positive, pregnancy normal or ectopic needs to differentiate immediately, as you have cramps, so you must repeat the beta human chorionic gonadotropin blood test after 48 hours of first level. Suppose a beta-human chorionic gonadotropin blood test shows a more than 60 % increase in level. In that case, it is a normal pregnancy. Still, the level is less than 60 %. In that case, it is an ectopic outside the uterus and needs intervention urgently. On the other hand, if the beta-human chorionic gonadotropin level shows a reduction, it is a miscarriage. In case of severe pain, bleeding, dizziness, headache, or fainting, report to the hospital immediately. Consult a specialist doctor, discuss with them, and take medication with their consent.

Thank you.
