Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I am a 45-year-old male. I had an accident 10 years ago. At that time, my knee x-ray was done, and I was reported to have osteoarthritis. I have been suffering from pain for a few years. I have lower back pain and pain in some of the joints. For the past few weeks, I have had pain in my left palm, particularly in my finger joints and more in the left middle finger joint, and also in my foot joints. I also feel very fatigued and tired.
My blood pressure (BP) was 110/70 mmHg a week back. I am enclosing a comprehensive blood test report, which was done very recently, and I have been advised to take tablet Nusam 400 for six months. I have been taking it for the past two months.
Please suggest to me the remedy and preventive measures.
Thank you.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Vitamin D deficiency and autoimmune causes can cause low levels of vitamin D. I suggest you do an ultrasound of the abdomen and pelvis, test for rheumatoid factor, an MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) of the spine with sacroiliac joint, and an MRI of the whole spine. Additionally, conduct a screening and ultrasound of the hands to assess for active arthritis. Also, consider testing for HBsAg (hepatitis B surface antigen) and HCV (hepatitis C virus).
I suggest you take Calcirol sachets (vitamin D) 60000 units once a week with a glass of water for six weeks and a tablet of Dolo 650 mg (Acetaminophen) for pain. Avoid alcohol and excessive weight lifting. Also, try to avoid painkillers as your liver functions are abnormal.
I hope this helps.
Thank you.
