Why does my girlfriend have a rash and cough after taking plan B tablet after our intercourse?

Patient's Query

Hello Doctor,

My girlfriend and I had foreplay. We were in bed, and I ejaculated a little into the sheets. I wiped myself with tissue, but my girlfriend was afraid of getting pregnant, even if no semen reached or entered her vagina. She took Plan B to be safe. I do not think pregnancy can happen because we did not have intercourse or physical contact. She took it a week after her period. Now she is experiencing a rash and a tight chest with wheezing. In addition, she has a sore throat. I feel like these are allergic reactions to Levonorgestrel. She also took cough syrup.

Is she ok? What should we do? Could pregnancy happen?

Kindly help.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

It is unlikely to be a pregnancy. It must be an allergic reaction or an infection.

I suggest,

1) Capsule Augmentin (Penicillin) 625 mg twice a day for five days.

2) Capsule Vizylac twice a day for five days.

3) Tablet Diclomol (Diclofenac and Paracetamol) twice a day for three days.

4) Tablet Montair LC (Monteleukast and Levocetirizine) once a day at bedtime for five days.

5) Tablet Ab Flo-N (Mucolytics) twice a day for five days.

6) Duolin nebulizer thrice a day.

7) Budecort 1 mg nebulization twice a day.

I suggest checking her CBC (complete blood count), chest X-ray, and throat swab culture. If breathlessness persists, you should visit an emergency.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

She had touched her vagina after touching my genitalia as far as pregnancy. But by that point, the semen was dry, and she did not go inside herself, just the outside. Is pregnancy still unlikely?

Also, with the reactions. It seems to be a mild allergic reaction. She mostly has hives. I do not think it is an infection since she washes her hands and wears a mask. I will still take your advice. What should we do about the hives? They are not severe, just located on her arm.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Yes, pregnancy is unlikely as you did not have intercourse. And she also took plan B a week after the periods. If it is a very mild allergy I suggest taking anti-allergic medications.

1) Apply Soframycin (Framycetin).

2) Apply moisturizer.

Thank you.
