Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My daughter, age 16 months, makes a loud noise while breathing from the chest. She also has red-marked spots on her face and legs. Whenever she lies on her back, she cries and has difficulty sleeping. We have tried to nebulize her, but it is not easy due to her age. Are there any medications you could suggest for her condition? Can we give her Alcet syrup?

Please let me know.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com

According to the limited information provided by you on the condition, it is not fair on my part to form a diagnosis and advice. I would appreciate the following details:

1. Since how long has she been making noise while breathing?

2. Does she suffer from fever, cough, cold, or other diseases?

3. Is she allergic to anything?

4. Does she frequently requires nebulizing?

5. Is there a family history of asthma or any allergy?

6. Does she suffer from skin allergies like eczema or dermatitis?

7. Does she only make a breathing noise while sleeping?

With limited information provided, I can only say she has some allergies. If she is active and feeds well, I suggest her syrup Alcet (Citrezine 5mg/5ml). I would also suggest giving her Ventolin (Albuterol) inhaler, as it is easier to give than the nebulizer. If the condition has developed suddenly, I recommend taking her to the hospital.

Take care.

Thank you.
