Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am facing neck sprain or pain issues. I used to use the computer for more extended periods. I had these pain issues earlier too, but now it is happening too frequently. I stopped using the computer altogether and reduced the usage as much as possible for the past two days. Still, I have pain if I keep the neck in certain positions. It is happening too frequently now. It is not like too much pain, but kind of an uneasy dull feeling ache. Kindly let me know if any exercise can help me in reducing this pain.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

A prolonged sitting posture with a straight neck at work would result in a pain issue, as you have mentioned. It is also expected to have pain like that if neck posture is maintained for an extended period. Do you have any other symptoms apart from it?

I would advise following these steps:

1) Do intermittent relaxation or change the posture.

2) While doing work on the computer, do some neck movements (flexion, extension, and lateral movements).

3) Proper sleep posture with neck placed comfortably.

4) You can apply ice-covered in a cloth intermittently.

5) Take tablet NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) if it is bothering much.

Kindly follow up if necessary.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you.

When previously the pain happened, two times the pain spread from neck to hand then feet, accompanied by dull strong pain, but resolved on its own after an hour. Both those two times, I used the computer for a longer period. The rest of the time, I only face mild pain and uncomfortable like now. Although I do not know if it is related, there is a dull pain that came near my sternum, which comes and goes on its own. Pressing the area does not cause pain, no swelling, no fever. Sometimes I face vertigo-like symptoms, which come and go immediately, do not persist, very random, and rarely happens. Is it possible that all this is happening from the neck sprain? Could this be spondylitis? I do not have any other symptoms. Kindly give your opinion.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Your symptoms are vague, not persisting, mainly because of your prolonged work on the computer. Follow as advised above and do some physical activity too. I hope this was helpful.
