Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have been recently detected with PCOD after I missed my period and had got an ultrasound done. Noticed small follicles near my parenchyma. So I went to the gynecologist, and she suggested using Meprate 10 milligrams, and after that, I had a light period after seven days. Now it has been ten days after my period completion. And I have brown clots type spot with very light spotting. I have been sexually active.

Could it be pregnancy?

Could you please help?

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

You did not give me the complete menstrual cycle, obstetrics, and gynecology medical history. You can check serum beta hCG (blood pregnancy test), which can give an idea for now. If the pregnancy hormone is high and bleeding is present, then better to have a transvaginal scan to exclude retained product of conception. Old accumulated blood in the uterus appears brown as you had missed periods, which could be old accumulated ones. Combined oral pills can regulate the cycle for two to three months. After that, it is okay if you have done the hormonal test in the laboratory. Otherwise, go for a blood test on the second day of the menstrual cycle. Serum testosterone, serum progesterone, insulin, prolactin, LH (luteinizing hormone), FSH (follicular stimulating hormone) and TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) are the required blood tests. Maintain BMI (basal metabolic index), eat a nutritious diet with less salt, sugar, oil, and spice, and exercise daily. Do recreational activities and avoid sex in the fertile period if you do not want to conceive. Blood reports are to be discussed here or with your gynecologist.

Thank you.
