Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am an 18-year-old female who has multiple cavities in my teeth. I filled seven cavities a few years ago. Now I have more than ten cavities. I am extremely anxious about it. Also, I need to put braces on my teeth. Is there possible to put braces while I have cavities?

Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your query and understood your concern.

You can get braces while you still have cavities (if they are small). But it is always better to get it filled before starting the orthodontic treatment because the cavities will become bigger and might cause pain later on. There might be a reason why you are getting cavities frequently, such as improper brushing techniques, frequent snacking, or intake of too many sweets. Once these factors are taken care of, your cavities will reduce automatically.

I hope this helps.
