Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I had a tooth filling done. My dentist injected anesthesia three times to get complete numbness. The numbness from the anesthesia has subsided. But I have pain inside my tooth. I suspect that the pain in my tooth is due to the drilling done in my tooth. I have a strange pain shooting from my tooth up through the cheek into my temple and sinuses. My cheek is swollen, and the pain in my cheek is a headache type pain. Is this normal after a filling?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern. Yes, it is painful sometimes. But it is only related to the stimulus, that means the pain at the time of chewing or due to hot or cold fluids. If the pain is continuous and interferes with your sleep cycle, you may need to revisit the dentist and get the filling removed. Sometimes the long buccal anesthesia wound gets infected and can cause pain. But in your case, the pain looks like pulpitis, and it is not usual if it continues for more than three days.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
