Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My blood pressure had all of a sudden went high last month, like 200/110. I have been taking Lisinopril 20 mg, Clonidine 0.1 mg, and Metoprolol 100 for ten years. I have tried Lisinopril 40 mg and then Lisinopril 40 mg with Clonidine 0.2 mg. It worked for a week, and then it did not last even for about 6 hours. I tried Lisinopril Hctz 20-12.5 with Clonidine, but the same results. I had COVID-19 ten months back and since got my vaccines.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for the query. I can understand your concern. According to your statement, you have been suffering from uncontrolled HTN or high blood pressure despite taking antihypertensive medications like Lisinopril and Clonidine. According to your lipid profile, your Cholesterol and LDL (low-density lipoprotein) are above the normal range. But, their values are not so high. So, you do not need to start taking any lipid-lowering agent right now.

Avoiding fatty and oily foods, dairy products, alcohol consumption, cigarette smoking, and salty foods, and regular exercise may help return your slightly higher lipid profile to normal. Do repeat your fasting lipid profile tests three months later. For controlling your high blood pressure, you can start taking other antihypertensive medications such as calcium channel blockers like Amlodipine 10 mg in the morning and sedative medications like Benzodiazepine at bedtime along with your currently using antihypertensive drugs.

Hopefully, the medications mentioned above may help reduce your high blood pressure within 15-30 days.

Take care. In case of any other query, ask me.
