Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I had sex one day before with unprotected intercourse and I even don't know that would lead to pregnancy or not? I have taken Unwanted 72 before 48 hrs, without knowing that I am pregnant ? Will it give a problem if I am not pregnant by taking of that pill? and does it stop the pregnancy completely by this one pill.

Hi,

Welcome to iCliniq.com

I fully understand your concern and will surely help you.

Unwanted 72 is an emergency contraceptive pill and it acts differently during the first 15 days of your cycle and differently in last 15 days of your cycle. However it is a reliable pill and the sooner it is taken after unprotected intercourse the better protection it gives. Yes it will protect you from pregnancy by preventing release of eggs from ovaries or prevention from fertilisation of available eggs. There will be no problem because of this emergency contraceptive pill. However you may expect some side effects like some light bleeding or spotting prior to your period, also please be prepared for a delay or early onset of periods by upto 7-10 days. Don't worry I am always there for you. Feel free to ask any questions or to share any additional information. God bless
