Hello doctor,
I have been suffering from a urinary tract infection following my last menstrual cycle and this month,for which I took Monurol (Fosfomycin). I have an itching and burning sensation while urinating and cannot urinate completely. I guess it could be mostly due to holding my urine for long hours and not urinating when needed while wearing a sanitary pad. Kindly suggest me a solution.

Yes,your symptoms actually indicate UTI (urinary tract infection), which is caused by bacterial infection, so antibiotics are required, or else sexually transmitted diseases (STI) can cause such symptoms. You can take Monurol (Fosfomycin) If you have taken it previously. Kindly let me know a few details so that I can suggest medicines accordingly. Do you have a history of unprotected sex? Are you allergic to antibiotcs? Since when do you have these symptoms?

I took Monurol for immediate relief, it would be better if you could prescribe some medications. No history of sexual activity at all. I am quite sure that it is a urinary tract infection because I did not urinate when required and have been experiencing discomfort since last week.

Thank you for writing and I understand your concern. You should take a tablet of Fosfomycin (Monurol) 3g single dose after the meal. And your symptoms will disappear and If your symptoms persist then you can write to us.
