Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I was diagnosed with a urinary tract infection one week ago. I underwent blood tests, but no signs of kidney infection were seen. However, the urine test showed signs of bacteria and white blood cells. Until then, I felt fine, but yesterday the tingling sensation returned and it was more persistent. I was adviced to continue taking Amoxicillin, but it did not help. Should I continue taking Amoxicillin?

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Thank you for your query. I reviewed your query. You have febrile UTI (urinary tract infection) and a history of UTI in childhood. Kindly get an ultrasound examination of the KUB (kidney, ureter, and bladder) region with PVR (pulmonary vascular resistance). Back pain with features of UTI may be caused due to stone formation. So I suggest you take a tablet of Nitrofurantoin (antibacterial) 100 mg at night, and tablet Tamsulosin (alpha-adrenergic blocker) 0.2 mg at night for ten days. Also, please share your USG (ultrasonography) report.

I hope this has helped you. Thank you.
