Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I suffer from recurrent vaginal itching followed by a burning sensation while urinating for the past many days. When I take Itraconazole medicine. It gets fine but after a few days, it happens again. My vaginal discharge’s odor is weird even after I take care of my hygiene. My physical relationship with my husband is getting worse because of the vaginal itching. Please tell me which medicine should I take.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thanks for your reply.

I have also been suffering from PCOS for the past many years but my menstrual cycle from the past few months is normal. I am not obese and the periods last for five to seven days. But this month, I was having three days of spotting even after my period was over. My vaginal discharge is watery and mixed with a white substance. It smells like a rotten fish. The problem occurred after I became sexually active. Also after having sex, I take care of my hygiene, wash it with plain water and I urinate after sex.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

It seems you suffer from bacterial vaginitis. I suggest you stop using any kind of vaginal washes. It will alter your vaginal pH. I need you to understand that as your discharge is recurrent, it is important to treat both husband and wife. Also, your burning urination is a sign that as the infection is long-standing, it is spreading to the surrounding area. I need you to do one basic urine test to rule out any infection. Also, keep yourself hydrated always.

I hope this has helped you.

Thank you.
