After taking medicines, I have relief from stomach pain and indigestion. Why does it recur?

Hi doctor,

I am 37 years old and weigh 158.73 Ibs. I have stomach pain, indigestion, and burning sensation while passing motions for the past few months. I took Metrogyl 400 mg for five days and I got relief. When I stop taking medicines, it recurs after a few days. I have this problem mostly when I take chicken and fish in my diet. I seem to have headaches, weakness, and leg pain after taking it. Please advise me whether I am taking the right medicine. I am advised to take Sibelium 10 mg for migraine for three months if the symptom occurs.

You are suffering from stomach pain, indigestion, and burning sensation while passing a motion for the past few months. This type of clinical features may occur due to gastroenteritis, food intolerance, salmonella infection, irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel diseases like Crohn's disease, Whipple disease, and celiac disease. Your treatment depends on the cause.

You need to undergo some investigations like USG of W/A (ultrasound of the whole abdomen), colonoscopy or sigmoidoscopy, tissue biopsy from the small intestine, PCR (polymerase chain reaction), blood for antibody testing for celiac disease, CT abdomen (computed tomography), CBC (complete blood count) and CRP (C-reactive protein) to find the underlying cause for your present sufferings and to treat them accordingly. In the meantime, you can take Ciprofloxacin along with Metronidazole and it helps to reduce your sufferings. In case of any other query, ask me.
