Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I recently found out I was pregnant. The doctor told me the date of conception and ultrasound gestation, which does not align with the date of sexual intercourse. My boyfriend is the only person I have slept with ahead of his deployment. Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have gone through your history and understand your concerns. The chances of delay in conception in your case are there, so there is no need to worry about it. Kindly upload your written ultrasound report or a clear picture of the ultrasound.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My ultrasound findings are as follows-

Uterus: The uterus measures 11.1 x 5.0 x 5.3 cm. An intrauterine gestational sac is seen, and a single embryo is identified with a crown-rump length of 0.78 cm representing a gestational age of 6 weeks and 5 days. This is less than the menstrual dates of 7 weeks and 5 days. The fetal heart rate is 126 bpm.

Ovaries or Asnexae: Right ovary is normal size and echogenicity with the normal vascular flow. The Corpus luteum is present in the right ovary.

Left ovary: Normal size and echogenicity with the normal vascular flow.

Pelvis: No free fluid.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I have gone through your history and report and understand your concerns. As your ultrasound shows, it is five weeks pregnant, it could be a late conception, and you are five weeks pregnant and not seven weeks. Get your blood beta hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) levels monitored. Are you bleeding or having pain? If not, then there is no need to worry about it. Sometimes early conception causes these findings. Take Folic acid tablets and progesterone to support pregnancy. I hope this helps you.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am confused because I had intercourse with my boyfriend a week before the date of conception, and then he left on military duties, and that was the only time we had intercourse. How is this possible?

Answered by Dr. Richa Agarwal

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Usually, conception occurs after 14 days of intercourse. So, it is a late conception in your case. There is no need to worry about it. You got conceived with the last intercourse you had. I hope this helps you.

Thank you.
