How can anejaculation be effectively managed?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I would like to discuss a sexual issue I am experiencing. I lack the desire for sex and, although I can achieve an erection, I am unable to ejaculate. After some time, the erection fades without ejaculation. While I enjoy foreplay, I have never been particularly interested in sex for as long as I can remember and have never masturbated. My testosterone level was tested and found to be 241 ng/dL. I also have been dealing with psychiatric issues for a while.

Could these sexual and psychiatric problems be related? What is the exact nature of the problem I am experiencing, and is it treatable?

Please suggest.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Your problem is treatable and is known as anejaculation. If you are taking any psychiatric medication, this could be contributing to your issue. Psychiatric and sexual problems are often interconnected. If you are able to ejaculate during sleep, the issue might be psychological. While your testosterone level is low, additional blood tests are also necessary, including those for postprandial glucose, TSH (thyroid-stimulating hormone), and prolactin.

I hope this information is helpful.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

What is the treatment for anejaculation, and how long does it typically take?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

The treatment depends on the reports and the psychological factors involved. If the reports are normal, medications may be used. The duration of treatment can vary from one month to several months. Using a vibrator may also be helpful. If you are currently taking antidepressants, you might need to consider changing your medication.

I hope this helps you.

Thank you.
