Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have bipolar disorder, and I am on Lithium ER and lamotrigine. I also use an inhaler four times a day. I recently had a cold, and my breathing disrupted my sleep, and I did not know what to do. I keep all electronic devices off before bed and do not consume alcohol, drugs, or caffeine. Kindly suggest your opinion on this.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern. The cold you suffer from might be the reason for poor sleep, as nasal blockage or respiratory problems always hamper sleep. Bipolar disorder also leads to a decrease in the need for sleep or disrupts sleep, but I think here, in your case, bipolar is not creating a problem for your sleep, so I advise you to take proper treatment for your cold first.

I hope this helps.

Thank you and take care.
