Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have bumps under my penis head, and it does not itch, but the raised bumpy portion runs around my penis just under the head. I have not tested for herpes, and I popped it up almost two months ago, and it has not gone away. I have attched my pictures. Please help me.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern. I saw your picture regarding the swelling (attachment removed to protect patient's identity). If there was a history of unprotected sex, we need to think of herpes infection and plan for investigation, and start medication. If there was no history of unprotected sex, it could be a simple bacterial infection, and you can use:

  1. Tablet Doxycycline (Monodox) 100 mg twice a day for five days.
  2. Ointment T bact (Mupirocin) for the local application.

You can review after five days and share the condition.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I did not have unprotected sex, but I did receive oral sex. Do I need a Doxycycline prescription?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Receiving oral sex is also considered a contact if it is from an unknown person, so we need to plan for an investigation of Treponema pallidum hemagglutination, herpes simplex virus (HSV) 1+2 IgG, herpes simplex virus (HSV) 1+2 IgM, serum Chlamydia trachomatis IgG, HIV (human immunodeficiency syndrome) 1 and 2 antibodies, screening test HbsAg (hepatitis B surface antigen). If it is a known person and you are sure about your partner, then no need to worry.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
