Why are the bumps on my penis and scrotum not getting resolved with an anti-parasitic lotion?

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am having scrotal calcinosis for three weeks. There is no color change but the itching and there are small balls over the penis and scrotum. You can see the picture attached. I have been using Scabion forte lotion for this. There is no such past history. Please tell me which medicine I should use to solve this problem.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. It looks like you have got scabies, a condition caused by a mite. It cannot be seen by naked eyes and can be seen only under a microscope. The symptoms include intense itching which worsens at night, and bumps are seen all over the body but more prominent between fingers and around the axilla. The presence of bumps over male genitalia is its diagnostic feature. It is not scrotal calcinosis. Please take the following medications and follow the instructions. Use the cream Permethrin 5%. This needs to be applied all over the body below the neck, at night and leave it overnight, then take a hot water bath in the morning. This should be done for one week for a complete recovery. You also need to wash the clothes and bedsheets in hot water. Take tablet Levocetirizine 5 mg twice a day. Use cream Mometasone furoate, apply on the bumps twice daily. Do this for two weeks initially, then follow up. Please note that though you will see improvement in itching and redness soon enough, complete clearance might take three to four weeks. Take care.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
